Helping people living with dementia stay connected
Course Overview
On this course, healthcare professionals will learn evidence-based early intervention strategies to help people with dementia achieve meaningful goals and make the most of their cognitive abilities. These rehabilitative approaches also support individuals in maintaining their independence for as long as possible.
Participants will learn to assess needs, set achievable goals, and create tailored interventions, from practical memory strategies to environmental supports. Through case studies, live demonstrations, and reflective discussion, attendees will see how small, structured changes can make a meaningful difference.
By the end of the day, participants will have a solid understanding of Cognitive Rehabilitation principles and the practical tools needed to help people with dementia live with greater independence, dignity, and engagement.
About the Topic
Cognitive rehabilitation (CR) is a personalised, therapeutic approach which helps individuals with early-stage dementia achieve meaningful goals. CR focuses on maintaining everyday functioning and reducing “excess disability” by addressing the specific barriers a person faces in their daily life.
